How to Split a PDF — Extract Pages Easily

Learn how to split a PDF into separate files. Extract specific pages, split by ranges, or separate odd and even pages.

What You Need Before Splitting

  • A PDF file you want to separate into smaller files
  • A web browser (no software installation needed)

Step-by-Step: Split a PDF

Step 1: Open the Split Tool

Go to the Split PDF tool. Everything happens in your browser.

Step 2: Upload Your PDF

Drag and drop your PDF file, or click to browse and select it. Files up to 100MB are supported.

Step 3: Choose a Split Mode

Range mode — Define page ranges (e.g., 1-5, 6-10, 11-15). Each range becomes a separate file.

Odd/Even mode — Separate odd-numbered pages (1, 3, 5...) from even-numbered pages (2, 4, 6...). Useful for double-sided scanning.

Manual selection — Pick individual pages to extract into a single new file.

Step 4: Split and Download

Click the split button. The tool processes your PDF and provides the split files for download. If multiple files are created, they download as a ZIP archive.

Tips for Best Results

  • Know your page numbers — Open the PDF in a viewer first to note which pages you need
  • Use ranges for large documents — Range mode is the fastest way to divide a long document into sections
  • Use manual selection for scattered pages — When you need pages 2, 7, and 15 only

Common Use Cases

  • Extracting one chapter from a large PDF manual
  • Separating a combined statement by month
  • Pulling out the cover page from a report
  • Preparing documents for double-sided printing
